Dear Classmates:

I received a call from Rose Domondon that Serge checked Serge Domondonin at the hospital on Saturday (3/9/13) for an emergency heart bypass surgery. This was confirmed by Chelita Garcia (wife of classmate Roherto Garcia) who added that Serge had five (5) by-passes and that he is doing well. Let us pray for Serge's speedy recovery.  Unfortunately, I have no information on the hospital where Serge is now recuperating. Here are Serge's contact information where you can send him best wishes:

MESSAGE FROM AND TO SERGE

[Hot Lave posts a message on our website Guestbook, 3/23/2013]

I am using this medium of communication for now to acknowledge all the wonderful love, prayers, getwell wishes and concerns regarding my operation. I am doing well and on the road to recovery. It is overwhelming also to know that I have so many loving people pulling for me during this bump in my life.

I will try to respond to your individual messages as soon as I am able to.

I will be forever grateful for your love and prayers.

With warmest Aloha,

Serge [serged@hawaii.rr.com]

Hi Serge,

Hey it's about time I hear from you. I sent you a "kumusta" email sometime ago but I did not get any reply that's why I was worred that there must be something wrong with you. I even asked Chelitz and Syl about you.

How are you doing healthwise? Are you OK? How about Rose. I hope everything is OK with you.

Warmest regards,

Lumen

Hi Lumen,

I apologize for not having responded to your e-mail. My only excuse is my computer is not "well". Just had it fixed yesterday.......so, I am back on the loop.

I am doing fine so is Rose. I just have to limit my activities until after 6 months of my surgery. Then, you'll find me at the golf course.

Thank you for asking. How are you doing? Are you OK.

Much Aloha,

Serge

Aloha Abe Serge,

Good to see you back in commission Hot Lava. Hope your progress is on schedule

and Rose eyes are well. Roger and company should be seeing you anytime soon. Take

good care ole buddy and give our best to Rose.

Abe Pete & Vilma

Abe Pete,

Thank you for your e-mail. Yes, we are doing OK. My recuperation is on schedule but we had to swing by the ER early this morning for Rose before seeing Abe Roger, Siony and Butch. Rose had a slight attack of asthma and we had to make sure that she was OK. After the ER visit, we had breakfast at Hale Koa, with Abe Roger, et al. We had a wonderful visit with them. It was short but nevertheless enjoyable.

Just to give you a heads up, Siony wants a reunion here in Hawaii and I totally agree with her. Butch fell in love with the place and the people and will be coming back, according to him, within a year. So, there Abe....start our PR work to convince the others. I am sure, you and Vilma, Abe Julius and Norma, Syl and Lou, Lumen, Chelita and Bert, Enrico and wife and the Austrias will come to Hawaii. Hey Abe, shades of LV reunion! Hopefully, we'll have more than the LV reunion. If the rest will not participate, it's their loss.

How are you and Vilma doing. Hope that both of you are well and ready to HULA!

Our warm Aloha to you and Vilma.

Abe Hot Lava

Hi Serge...sounds good! hopefully we will be all healthy next year, Syl & Lu

Abe Serge,

Oahu seems like an ideal place to get together for us.  So it's a definite "go" for me

and Vilma.  Batchmates all over will probably entertain a one week vacation in an

"island paradise" while we are still able to get around.  And with "Hot Lava" hosting,

it promises to be a burn-burner of an affair to remember.  And as Abe Roger kept

reminding everyone in the past, " now is the time, tomorrow maybe a little bit late".

So start sounding-off mga Abe...we need your input so as we can start putting this

thing together, the soonest.  In the meantime, everybody is pulling together for our

Patsy 's speedy  recovery.  And hopefully Rose got a handle on  her asthma. Best

regards.

Abe Pete & Vilma

THE LATEST NEWS

March 21, 2013
Dear Classmates,

Am very happy to share with you the very, very good news that our Serge is recovering well quickly. Just got through talking to him and he sounded very vibrant, cheerful, and of course highly optimistic. He told me he is very thankful to see the unwavering support of his U.P. High 50 classmates with their all-powerful prayers.

Let's continue to say our prayers for Serge.

We have seen a few sad news lately; first, Serge's surgery, then Rogie Relova's passing, and now the untimely death of Tranqui Elicano.

I cannot help but be delighted to share good news when it comes around such as Serge's speedy recovery from his surgery. He is coming up so well that I think he is ready "to chase his neighbor's dog!"

Pace e Bene ...

Roger [rogeraustria@yahoo.com; NAC charman Roger Austria]

Hi Everybody,

Just talked to Serge a moment ago.  Very happy to share the news he is doing very well.  He is in high spirits; we started joking around.  He even told me that when we go to Hawaii, he will let his neighbor (the one with the dog) take care of me.  He asked me to tell you all he and Rose are very thankful for our prayers and that when he goes home he could thank you all personally.

No doubt he is quickly recovering from the surgery.  His doctor told him he could go home this Wednesday (3/13/13) or Thursday (3/14/13).  Because he was in good physical health otherwise, I am sure he will be back to his normal activities in a week or two.

Happy to have you back in circulation, Hot Lava.

Pace e Bene ... Roger [rogeraustria@yahoo.com; NAC charman Roger Austria]

CLASSMATES’ MESSAGES TO SERGE and ROSE

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the update on Serge's condition and for keeping us posted on developments concerning our batchmates whether it is bad or good news. Actually I got to talk to him yesterday and he really sounded cheerful.

Lumen [lumenmartinez@hotmail.com; classmate Iluminada Gomez-Martinez]

HI Serge

We are very happy and glad of the very good news. Please take good cre of your self so we can have more reunions to attend to, And Roger thanks for sharing the good news.

Fe [fesuaco@aol.com; classmate Fe Abarqiez-Suaco]

Hi Serge,

Sorry and worried to hear about your heart surgery but now happy to know that all is going well with you.

I was not able to send my prayers for your safe and early recovery earlier because we also had an emergency. Asti, Meg's brother was hospitalized for on-off fever, dehydration and suspected dengue fever. His platelet count went down from 207 to 167, then 145 and 130, borderline for dengue. A massive hydration was done, 4 liters a day and thank God on the fourth day, his platelet count started going up. But he had to stay a few more days in hospital for the treatment of systemic viral infection. Except for cough, Asti is fine now.

Imagine when I opened my email I had 48 messages unread and the first thing I opened was the sad news about you, then the good news. You are made of strong stuff, Serge, so nothing to worry about, you'll be up and about in a few days. With Rose and the kids taking care of you, your heart will be back to normal in good time.

I will keep in touch, Serge. Still remember Rock-Port, John Dearest and Mayumi? Hope they are still around.

My love, prayers and best wishes to you and Rose.

Affectionately ... Ophie [oolagmay@yahoo.com; classmate Ophelia Ongkingco-Lagmay, UP High Class 1950 Alumni Association secretariat]

Hi Serge,

I am guessing here that you had a quintuple bypass? I hit the "rely all" button here-- in reply to Mrs. Aquino's reply to you. I was not able to read whatever you had sent her and i hope you are recuperating now from your surgery... take things easy...

I sent you an email about my daughter exhibiting in NY in September. And to reply to your query about where my brother works. He works at the Holiday Inn in Waikiki.

Praying for your quick and full recovery!

Regards,

Christine

Am happy for Serge and Rose. Glad he made it.

From Tom and Ernie [rigor.thomas@yahoo.com; classmates Thomas and Ernie Rigor]

Abe Serge,

Hard to believe but we always thought you are not the type who would go under the knife for a heart bypass surgery.  You are the personification of a young, robust, healthy centurion who can expect to break the century mark.

Hoping for your full and speedy recovery; my inbox is now missing the LOL emails originating from Hawaii that I've been getting on a regular basis -- anxious to laugh at the jokes again.

Get well soon, Abe.
Peace and prayers ...
Roger and Siony

Paddy and Dot [dotpad@netzero.com; classmate Dr. Sinforoso Padilla Jr., M.D. and wife Dot]

Aloha, Abe Hot Lava:

Norma and I are very happy to know that you underwent a successful quintuple heart bypass procedure. The news of you having to undergo the surgery comes as a surprise because you looked and acted so young and energetic during our meeting last October in Hawaii. Having it done – and successfully – means that we will be getting together again for many, many more years to come.

Mahalo – and see you again soon.
