MESSAGE FROM MERCIA CRISOSTOMO/PATSY PUTONG-SISON:
February 20, 2013
Hi, Abe Jules!
Recently, Mercia Crisostomo-Aquino texted me that our batch mate, Philippine Air Force General (Ret.) ROGELIO P. RELOVA, JR. passed away on February 7, 2013 -- our batch's 63rd "casualty" on our 63rd anniversary since graduation. Mercia’s daughter, Meya, got the sad news secondhand from the Facebook page of one of her friends.
Of course, before we can put this death notice on our class sites, more details have to be verified.
Gratefully, Patsy

THE SAD NEWS:
CLASSMATE ROGIE RELOVA PASSES AWAY
A REPORT FROM PETE MANANSALA
On 25 February, 2013, Abe Julius accompanied by his very lovely secretary (Norma), and I with Vilma arrived at the Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood Street, Vallejo, CA at about 11:30 AM. While at the parking lot, we were met by friends of the Relova family, who informed us that they have just talked with Nancy (Rogie’s widow) and they were told that the family will not be arriving until 1:00 PM at the chapels.
Immediately, the two ladies made the decision that we should be eating lunch and they knew exactly where to go ... MAX's Fried Chicken, which was only a couple of blocks from the chapels. Not having eaten breakfast before we left Sacramento, I ordered logsilog. Abe Julius got the famous fried chicken, and the girls ordered so much that Abe Julius thought we had some company joining us. No complains from me. After I finished with my breakfast I took a few breathers then proceeded to have my lunch. The supposedly light lunch was topped with their humongous special halo-halo.
When we returned to the chapels at 1:00 PM, we were met by the five Relova children. After quick introductions, they took us to meet their mother, Rogie’s widow Nancy. Since people were still arriving, I asked one of the daughters, TerryLou if it was possible to have a group picture with us for the UP High Class 1950 web site and for all of Rogie's classmates. They were very happy to accommodate us and Abe Julius took care of the rest. Pleasantries were exchanged. Nancy and her children were very happy and thankful that a couple of Rogie's classmates and their spouses were able to attend the wake service in representation of UP High Class 1950.
After the service, a reception followed at the Empire Buffet. Having just eaten an enormous lunch, we passed and thanked Nancy and her five children for graciously having us as a part of the gathering.
The Rogelio P. Relova family:
Nancy, Rogie’s widow
Mel, a daughter who lives in the Philippines and made the trip for the funeral.
Roland, a son (twin to Ricky) who followed Rogie’s footsteps and had recently retired from the Philippine Air Force. He made the trip from the Philippines where he and his family lives.
Ricky, a son (twin to Roland) who lives on Guam and made the trip for the funeral.
Terry Lou (Laurena), a married daughter.
Rona, a daughter.
Those who want to communicate with Rogie’s family can send their messages to: YVRELOVA@AOL.COM or to TLAUREN@BART.GOV.
END OF REPORT.

FROM PETE MANANSALA
Abe Julius, this is the first time I have heard of it. Having said that, I immediately went to work and this time lady luck was generous. I was able to contact Mrs. Rogelio Relova (Nancy), and she provided the following after I told her who I am.
Rogelio passed away on Feb. 7, 2013. His funeral is on February 25, 2013 at the Colonial Chapel, 1000 Redwood Street, Vallejo, California 94590. The telephone at the funeral home is 707- 643-0391.
Nancy's address is 148 Bridlewood, Vallejo, CA 94591. Her phone number is 707-648-3565. Her cell phone numbers are 707-246-3216 and 707-342-3378.
We are a bit late in locating him, but Nancy was very happy that we tried to find him and asked me to extend her gratitude to all his UP High School classmates. Nancy does not have an e-mail address but will see if she can use her daughter's.

FROM JULIUS WILLIS
Hi, Patsy:
I got information on Rogie – however, at this time no one answers his phone (1-707-648-3565). The report shows Rogie as 78 years old and owns his home in Vellejo (148 Bridlewood Court, Vallejo, CA 94591, built in 1986) where the phone is located. His wife’s name is Nancy Relova (age 77) and his two children are Rona Relova (47, who lives at 253 Cadloni Lane, Vallejo, CA) and Theresa Relova (32, who lives at 693 Regis Court, Benicia, CA – Benicia is a city close to Vallejo).
I will continue trying to contact someone at the phone number – apparently his wife is still alive and the phone has not been disconnected.
Vallejo is an hour’s drive from home. If I could get in contact with someone, I’ll go over (maybe Abe Pete will come with me) and have a chat with his survivors).
Talk to you later.

FROM PATSY PUTONG-SISON
Hi, Abe Jules!
Recently, Mercia Crisostomo-Aquino texted me that our batch mate, Philippine Air Force General (Ret.) ROGELIO RELOVA, JR., passed away on February 7, 2013 --- our batch's 63rd "casualty" on our 63rd anniversary since graduation. Mercia’s daughter, Meya, got the sad news secondhand from one of her Facebook friends.
We need to find out more about Rogie directly from his widow, NANCY, and family whose home address is 148 Bridlewood Court, Vallejo, CA 94591-8420. We do not have Rogie’s phone number, landline or mobile.
Since you also live in California and may know how to contact Rogie's home - perhaps via telephone directory/directory assistance - may we request you to verify additional details (cause of death, when and where interred/cremated, etc.) with the bereaved family, so you can post a more detailed death notice on both sites -- UPHigh1950@yahoogroups.com and www.uphigh1950.org. In this way, our classmates would be able to send messages of sympathy/condolence directly to Rogie's family.
Hope you can help us once again, although it would involve extra work on your part. At our end, the secretariat will send a condolence card with a message of sympathy, in behalf of our alumni association. Maraming salamat ulit, Abe, and warm regards to Norma. God bless!
Gratefully,
Patsy
